Review of the 8500 Printer by a Staff Member of “The Printer Store” , Sue Ruso.

I really question HP’s speed claims.  Th8500 Printer All-in-one 35 page per minute text speed and 34 ppm graphics speed are possible only in draft mode.  In my own test it printed text pages at 20.5 ppm and graphics pages at 8.5 ppm which is a little short of HP ‘s promises, but this is plenty fast.  The text output looked very black and crisp.  Photos and graphics appeared a little grainy but had natural color on plain paper.  On HP’s paper, the images tended to be slightly dark but very smooth.

Review of the Features8500 Printer of the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500

On the front of the 8500 printer is a control panel complete with a 3.5 inch, touch sensitive color display.  You can review, preview and edit photos as well as access other features such as the fax, scan and copy components.  Although the display responds well, it would have been nice to have on the control panel some physical navigation buttons as an alternative.  But, most of the buttons on the control panel are related to fax use.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 comes with a 50 sheet automatic document feeder on the scanner.  The ADF tray does feel a bit flimsy but that should not be a great problem, but be careful when scanning a heavy object or it might snap.
The fully automatic double sided printing is so nice; eventho, you do have to manually install the duplex unit to the rear of the 8500 Printer when you get it. The duplexing is really slow because once the first side of the page is printer, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 waits around 5 seconds for the ink to dry then it slowly suck the page back in, flip it around and then start printing on the other side.  Nevertheless, it is a very useful feature to have, even if it is real slow, but you probably want use it often.
Test result of the quality of the text output is excellent.  Color photo prints are much better, looking vivid and feature a decent level of details. The maximum resolution of 4800dpi will deliver high quality scans.8500 Printer

Review by Simon Herman of Dallas, Texas on the 8300 Printer

I  purchased the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 in March of 2009 and have been simply delighted.  I am using the Printer in my home office and it takes the place of another HP printer I, a copier, a scanner and fax machine.  This leaves me with a lot of extra space in my office and I could not be happier.

This printer is not blazingly fast, but it does a good job.  It is very energy efficient and because of the duplex capability it will save paper.  I believe that over time it will really save me money by using less power and less paper.

I like being able to print or scan multiple pages with the built in auto document feader.  It is extremely easy to operate with the built in display and buttons.  The scanner will scan legal size pages plus letter size pages.  The wireless function works flawlessly in my network as I have 3 computers attached. This was the right choice of printers for my home office and I do recommend it.8500 Printer

Review by Hebert Henry from New York on the 8500 Printer

When my printer, HP officejet pro 8500 All-In-One,  arrived it took me only about 25 minutes to complete set the printer up.  I needed a printer that was multifunctioning.  I have been completely satisfied with the speed of the printer and the print quality is high.  It has good color accuracy and is capable of printing my photo’s which I really like.  The copy and scan functions are easy to use; eventho, the duplex printing is slow, it seems to be adequate for the number of times it is used.  I have not had to remove or replace a cartridge so I really don’t know about the cost per page of printing.  All in all I am really pleased with my printer. I recommend this printer.

Review by Madelyn Thomas from Pennsylvania on the 8500 Printer

I have had my printer for 2 weeks and very pleased with it.  I really thought that I would use the duplexing  more,  but because it is so slow, I only use it occasionally.  I know some have complained about the printer being slow to print, but I did not find that to be true.  I find it to be quite fast and the print quality good.  The scanner really works well for both color and black.  The fax function is great and fast.  The 8500 printer appears to be well designed of strong structure.  I find the following to be very positive on the 8500 printer:

  • Smoother/quieter
  • Fast printing and scanning for a piece of home office equipment
  • Reasonable price for the performance/functionality
  • Sturdier construction than predecessors
  • Reasonable price for the performance/functionality
  • Smoother/quieter than previous Officejet printers

I believe in 8500 Printer and recommend it.8500 Printer
